Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to questions asked to our customer service, practical tips for feeding your dog with PLATINUM dog food prepared with FSG and for feeding your cat with MeatCrisp from the Freshmeatdryer.

Dog Food

Compared to conventional dry food, which is mainly made from meat meal, dog food prepared with FSG requires at least 70% fresh meat (muscle meat) to make PLATINUM dry food. There is a big difference between meat meal and fresh meat. Compared to fresh meat, meat meal is significantly inferior, as it is only produced after repeated heating under high pressure. As a result, meat meal has fewer nutrients, a higher ash content and lower protein digestibility than fresh meat. We know from cooking that meat juices and meat fat are what make a roast dinner a treat — which is why we don't prepare our Sunday roast with meat meal. Thanks to the process of cooking with FSG, PLATINUM dry food is completely free from attractants, flavourings, colourings, odours, and flavour enhancers.

Every dog is descended from the wolf, and the digestive tract is designed for the consumption of meat. Our dry food and wet food are designed to be easily consumed by all dogs — from Chihuahuas to Great Danes — and meet the needs of all breeds equally. Different sizes of dry food and wet food make it easier to portion out the food. The recipe and composition remain identical in all sizes to ensure consistent quality and optimum nutrition.

Healthy senior dogs can continue to be fed with PLATINUM, as our food is very easy to digest and the ingredients it contains are of very high quality. Please note, however, that a dog's metabolism decreases with age and the amount of food should be reduced if necessary.

If your dog is diagnosed with a disease in old age, we recommend an individual consultation with our veterinary department.

To avoid causing problems in the puppy learning to produce the important substances contained in the extract on its own, they should not be supplied in the food in the first 3 months.

If you want to offer your dog some variety, you can easily switch between all PLATINUM foods. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, please contact our veterinary department for advice on feeding.

It does not matter whether you give wet food in the morning and dry food in the evening, or vice versa. A combination of wet and dry food in one meal is also possible, as both forms of feeding have the same digestibility with PLATINUM.

Whether you give your dog Adult Chicken (Mini), Adult Beef (Mini), Adult Lamb (Mini) or Adult Iberico (Mini) depends on your dog's preferences and which flavours they like best. Of course, you can also switch between the three flavours as you wish. Your dog will be optimally supplied with all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals they need with each of our food varieties. We offer smaller kibbles for dogs up to 10 kg with our “Mini” variants.

The choice between all of our varieties is entirely dependent on your dog's taste. You can switch between the adult flavors at any time as you wish, as long as there are no known intolerances. Each of our varieties is a complete feed to meet all of your dogs needs.

The timing of the change from puppy food to adult food depends (among other things) on the expected size and breed of your dog.

Small breeds (such as Dachshunds and Pugs) can be given puppy food up to 12 months of age. Medium-sized dogs (e.g. Australian Shepherds, Border Collies) can usually switch to adult food after they have finished teething (approx. 6 months of age), while large breeds (e.g. Bernese Mountain Dogs, Rhodesian Ridgebacks) can be fed adult food from the age of 4 months.

If an earlier changeover to an adult food is made, we recommend following the feeding recommendations for puppies until they are 12 months old in order to ensure an adequate supply of nutrients with optimum (and not maximum) growth rates. You can also get more information on optimal feeding via our digital food advisor.

Cats are "creatures of habit". They orientate themselves on what they are used to eating and not on the quality of the food. We therefore recommend the substitution method for the changeover. This involves gradually replacing the familiar cat food with more and more MeatCrisp cat food. This way your cat can slowly get used to the new, natural meat taste of MeatCrisp. The proportional amount of MeatCrisp can be steadily increased over the following days. After about a week, your cat will usually be used to the new food. If, contrary to expectations, your cat still refuses the food, go back to the familiar food and try the changeover in smaller steps. Please do not let your cat starve, as this can be life-threatening for your cat!

We recommend an immediate change in dog food without a transition phase. Due to the different digestibility, it is not recomendable to mix PLATINUM dry food with any other dry food.
