Questions & Answers – frequently asked questions about PLATINUM food
Here you will find answers to questions our customer service team have been asked and practical tips on how to feed your dog with PLATINUM complete food.
Why does PLATINUM process fresh meat?
While conventional Dry Food is normally processed from meat meal, PLATINUM food consists of at least 70% fresh meat. Unlike meat meal, which must be prepared under very high temperatures and the addition of water, fresh meat can be processed very gently without adding water. This leads to an optimum use of proteins. The resulting residual moisture content from the pure meat juice gives the final product an incomparable flavour without using any attractant additives.
Why aren't there specific foods for the various breeds of dogs?
Every dog is descended from the wolf in origin, and the digestive tract is designed for the consumption of meat. Our chunks of food are designed as such so that they can be easily absorbed by all dogs – from Chihuahuas to Great Danes – and can equally satisfy the needs of all breeds.
Why is there no PLATINUM senior food?
In the wild, an old wolf eats the same food as a young wolf. Should you feed a low protein diet to an old dog, it will lose muscle mass and vitality.
How do I switch over from other products to PLATINUM food?
A dog's stomach is designed for meat. As a result of the high proportion of meat and the fact that it is so easy to digest, switching over the food is usually possible from one day to the next. If your dog has a highly sensitive digestive tract, mix an increasingly larger proportion of PLATINUM into your current dog food over 3-4 days.
Why does Puppy Chicken not contain any green-lipped mussel extract?
Green-lipped mussel extract intake through food should be avoided in the first three months of a dog’s life to prevent possible disruption in the ability of the animal to produce its own important substances in its growing body.
How long can PLATINUM be stored?
Dry food has a shelf life of 18 months post-manufacture; wet food has a shelf life of 36 months.
Can an adult dog switch easily between the dry food varieties?
